Disneyland: Day 1- Getting There, Downtown Disney, Possible Vlog

Today we headed off on a last minute trip to Anaheim! We left Sacramento later than usual which meant running into lots of rush hour traffic. On our way there we stopped at a truck stop for lunch like we normally do. It took us way to long to get here!

It was pretty late by the time we got here so we didn't do much. After we checked into the hotel we went to Target to get some supplies, energy drinks, bottled water and snacks.

We grabbed dinner down the street off of Katella. My mom and sister got Gyros, my dad got a burrito a few doors down and I got teriyaki beef at a mom and pop restaurant next door. It was pretty good.

After dinner we headed out to grab our tickets at will-call so we didn't have to worry about it in the morning. My mom wants to take advantage of our Magic Morning tomorrow. My sister and I started vlogging on our way there. We didn't get much filmed because her phone died. I haven't decided if I'll publish those vlogs yet. I'm not very good at creating and editing videos. My parents went back to the hotel and my sister and I left for Downtown Disney because I haven't photographed it yet. As many times as I've been here I can't believe I haven't taken pictures there yet. We went all the way down and stopped at World of Disney and the Build-A-Bear store. They have Charmanders in stock now! There was also some left over merchandise form Disneyland's 60th anniversary at Build-A-Bear. There's a new shop in Downtown Disney called Anna and Elsa's Frozen Boutique. It took the place of the Disney 365 store.

At the far end of Downtown Disney by the ESPN Zone there was a concert going on called, "Downtown Disney Live!" It was pretty awesome. They played a lot of classic rock.

Keep following me on this trip... If the vlogs turn out well, I'll post them!

Tomorrow we go to the parks!!!

Disneyland day 1: The first post.

We left for Anaheim late this morning. On our way here we stopped for lunch at a truck stop in Coalinga. My mom wanted Burger King because she likes their tacos so we dropped her and my grandma off and the rest of us left for McDonalds. There were 2 or 3 tour buses at the truck stop and everything was packed! We decided to go to Carl's Jr. and we still ended up waiting forever. The Burger King there didn't have taco's either! So much for fast food.

When we got into Anaheim we checked into our hotel, unpacked and left to get our tickets for tomorrow. While my parents waited in line for the tickets the rest of us went to Downtown Disney. We didn't get very far before my parents caught up with us so we left for food! My mom's favorite sandwich shop closed down in Sacramento so she insisted we go to the one here. All of us got sandwiches and some to go!

I wanted to go back to Downtown Disney but everyone was too tired to go back with me. So back to the hotel we went.

Tomorrow, we go the parks!!!

An evening in Downtown Disney

Today was a travel day mostly-- made a stop at Arby's on the way in. We got into Anaheim at about 7pm and headed off to Downtown Disney. The weather here is pretty warm.
Normally we get a hotel within walking distance from Disneyland but this time our hotel is about 2 miles away. Parking at Downtown Disney is insane! The line to get in was super long and once you get in you have to drive around forever before you find a spot. I don't think they monitor how many people they let in, how many people leave and how many spots they have. There was obviously more cars than spots. My sister and I got dropped off near the entrance and headed off to the shops while my parents parked. They had cars packed in the lot and parked any which way they could fit. The parking attendants directed non handicapped cars park in handicapped spaces and they put cars in sections with lines through them. Luckily they opened up another section or else we wouldn't have a parking spot.
The shops at Downtown Disney are pretty ordinary. They have a few specialty Disney shops and some shops carry special Disney products. World of Disney, Disney Vault, Studio Disney 365 and D Street are some of the Disney stores. The Build-A-Bear here has Disney clothes and accessories for your bear and the Lego store has Disney stuff too.
My parents went through the Grand Californian Hotel to get to Downtown Disney and my sister and I went through the parking lot entrance. We didn't know where my parents parked and we were closer to the parking lot entrance so we left through there. We ended up walking through the whole parking lot, getting lost and then some on the way to the car. It was then that I realized how big the parking lot was. We stopped by Taco Bell on the way back to the hotel.
